Caving
After every winter snowmelt tries to find its way down the Kanin mountains. Dissolving limestone allows most water to flow directly down. Over ages cracks, tunnels and chambers have been carved turning our rock into ´Swiss Cheese´. Every year speleologists from all over the world visit Kanin to explore these caves. Usually they descend into crevasses starting at higher altitudes and return the same way, sometimes they find a way through the mountain exiting in the valley. Cavers get dirty.

At Aktivni Planet we want to take you inside giving you a healthy bite of their experience.

Mala Boka or Pigeon cave

Next to the giant boka falls we enter a small dark canyon, home to a few bats (no pigeons). Finding the entrance can be a challenge to the fresh explorer. Once inside we have ample space again. Further descend show some stalagmites and stalactites. Here we lower you straight down on a rope. Fine accoustics. Large rooms with infinite windows. In Mala Boka we find compact rock for easy climbing up and down. Bend down treading down a long slab. We arrive at the little lake, the lowest point we can reach in the whole Kanin ridge. One snack and get back.

Lost time 3 to 4 hours.

Srnica or Little deer

Our most popular caving exploration. Prime potholing. Idyllic start near the source of the Gljun creek. Hidden entrance under the tail. We crawl, walk, climb and squeeze through narrow passages always relieved by larger spaces. What a labyrinth. Enjoy the security of our ropes on short traverses. Not easy to keep your feet dry creeping through her bladder. The fossiled hearts don´t lie and you fall in love with the Little Deer. Breath out worming your way through her airpipe. We see the light. Soaking up serene landscape from her muzzle. Now just 40 meters of dental floss to get down.

Lost time 3 to 4 hours.
