That is why at Active Planet, you cah choose from several kayak programs, specifically tailored for different needs. We offer a one-day, two-day or five-day kayak school for beginners, a Bovec kayak descent with an inflatable kayak - Guppy and a guided kayak descent for experienced kayakers.

Would you like to fire up your active vacation in Bovec and try your hand at kayaking? Why not!
To make sure you get the most out of it, we have prepared different kayak programs. For beginners, we offer a one-day, two-day or five-day kayak school, where you will enjoy kayaking for about 3 hours a day. In multiple-day courses, we will upgrade your technical knowledge and test it on various sections of the Soča River. After completing a five-day kayak school course, most participants, accompanied by mentors, are able to paddle on parts of the river with difficulty level III.
Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about young aspiring kayakers. That is why we also adapt kayak courses for families with young children, so our excellent kayak guides can give as much knowledge as possible to all age groups - in a fun way.
All you need for kayaking the Soča river is a positive approach and an adventurous spirit. However, you can later transfer the knowledge you acquire to all parts of the world, as you become your own “boss” of kayaking.
About Kayak School experience…
We gather at our base, which is located 200m outside Bovec in the direction of Vršič. At the information point (Planet bar) we complete all the formalities, followed by a presentation of our canyoning guide, who will distribute all the equipment you need to conquer the white water rapids of Soča river.
Equipment includes:
- neoprene shoes
- neoprene suit
- lifejacket
- helmet
- anorak
- kayak roof
- paddle
- kayak
Followed by that there is a 10 - minute drive to the entry point, where you will also change into your kayaking equipment (we recommend that you already have a swimsuit under your clothes). You can safely leave your dry clothes and personal belongings in the van, which awaits us at the exit point in the end.
Before we descend the Soča river, our guide explains everything you need to know about safety, proper rowing, teaches you how to get out of the kayak if you flip and explains the whole course of the descent.
That is followed by 3 hours of immense fun on the rapids of the emerald river Soča, where we stop several times along the way and practise various paddling techniques.
You can safely leave all your clothes and personal belongings in the van, which later awaits you at the exit point to take you back to our base.

Kayak Trip with Guppy Inflatable Kayak
Have you always wanted to face the power of the Soča River on your own and conquer its rapids? Do you want to paddle along the mischievous emerald river Soča, but the water level is too low for a rafting adventure? Don’t worry, we have a fun alternative for you - descending Soča river with an inflatable kayak - guppy.
The Soča River, which is said to be a paradise for kayakers, offers various sections of difficulty and obstacles that need to be overcome on a kayak descent. But not everyone feels comfortable doing it in a closed kayak. That is why guppy is designed to make you feel safer while giving you the advantage of easier control over it. Paddling in a guppy is suitable for beginners and families who simply want to learn how to paddle as well as those who already have experience in kayaking and want to improve their kayaking skills. Fun is definitely guaranteed!
However, if you are one of the big adrenaline and kayak enthusiasts and you want to be pleasantly tired after the descent, we recommend that you take part in a longer descent. With a little help from high water levels, you can experience even more magical moments on the beautiful emerald river Soča.
