Canyoning Across the Border
Already explored the canyons in the Soča Valley? Rio Ronc is a canyon in the Resia Valley in northeastern Italy, about an hour’s drive from Bovec. Same guides, same equipment, completely different scenery.
The setting feels like a different world. Where the Slovenian canyons are narrow limestone gorges, Rio Ronc opens into an alpine valley with the kind of untouched landscape that makes the drive part of the experience. Crystal-clear pools, natural rock slides, and gorge sections framed by mountains on every side.
The highlight is the 20 metre rope descent down a waterfall. The highest jump is 8 metres. Both are safe and guided, and both give you something to talk about on the drive back.
Rio Ronc works well for families and beginners from age 12. It is also a favourite with return visitors to Bovec who have already done Sušec or Fratarica and want a completely different day out. The canyon itself is about 1.5 hours. The longer total duration (5.5 hours) accounts for the scenic drive each way.

Your canyoning day
Check in at Aktivni Planet Outdoor Sports Center in Bovec (or our town-center office in early and late season).
